Boat Driving Permits

gb WayPoint boat driving school is acknowledged by Service Cantonal de la Navigation and provides training for : permis suivants:
" A " Permit (required to drive motor boats exceeding 6kw (about 8 HP) driving power
" D " Permit, required pour lao drive sailboats with a sail surface exceeding 15 sq.meters
PROCEDURE:
“ A” et “D” permits are issued and delivered by the Canton where the candidate is a resident.
Candidates who wish to pass the exams in another Canton, must be authorised by Canton of residence.
Fees for exams and authorizations may vary according to Canton.
To obtain permit one must pass a theory exam and then a practical exam.
Candidates may attend practical training at any moment, however sign up to practical exam is possible only after having passedd the theory exam.
Theory exam is common to A and D permit. Once one permit ( A or D) is obtained, it is possible to apply for the other one and pass practical exam only. Validity of application is 18 months.

Official theory books may be ordered to SAN. Texts and questions are in German French and Italian. Theory exam can only be passed in one of these languages
Our school sells upon demand a computer program that enables candidates to prepare the theory exam and may provide learning assistance to candidates of English mother tongue.
After having succeded the theory exam, candidates must pass the practical test within 18 months.
Cndidates who wish to be presented to the practical test by gb WayPoint should chose exam date and location with our approval.
gb WayPoint may refuse to present candidates with a clearly insufficient degree of preparation. However, candidates personally decide to apply for exams and are totally responsible of
their issue.
Chaque épreuve d'examen, même non réussie, est facturés par le SAN. En cas d'échec à l'épreuve pratique, un délai de 30 jours doit être respecté, avant une nouvelle épreuve.
Les dates et les places disponibles pour les examens pratiques sont définies par le SAN. L'école ne peut modifier ces dates ni demander des rendez-vous d'examen en dehors des dates proposées par le SAN.
PROGRAMME DE L’EXAMEN PRATIQUE POUR BATEAUX MOTORISES
(permis A) :
Préparation du bateau pour la navigation.
Sécurité : feu à bord ; voie d'eau à bord.
Distance et vitesse dans la zone riveraine.
Navigation sur différents parcours.
Arrêt sur une bouée.
Sauvetage d'une personne à l'eau.
Demi-tour dans un espace restreint.
Accostage à tribord et à bâbord (en avant et en arrière).
Accostage sur une place d'amarrage (en avant et en arrière).
Ancrage.
Amarrage du bateau à une bite, piquet, anneau, taquet, avec différents nœuds.
PROGRAMME DE L’EXAMEN PRATIQUE POUR VOILIER (permis D) :
Préparation du bateau pour la navigation : gréer.
Sécurité : feu à bord ; voie d'eau à bord.
Navigation aux différentes allures.
Virement de bord et empannage.
Navigation sur un parcours imposé.
Manoeuvres dans un espace restreint.
Sauvetage d'un homme à l'eau.
Appareillage et accostage à un quai ou à une bouée.
Réduction de voilure.
Ancrage.
Amarrage du bateau à une bite, piquet, anneau, taquet, avec différents nœuds.
